Nancy Andreasen recently shared the results of her research on creative genius in an article in the Atlantic. Through neuroimaging, research and interviews she discovered several shared traits of creative geniuses. She is very clear in pointing out that a creative genius is not necessarily someone with a high IQ, but a person who makes connections others do not to create something new.
1. Creative Geniuses Like to Teach Themselves
Commonly referred to as being an “Autodidact” many creative geniuses reported that they were often distracted by being taught by other people. Instead, they would prefer to guide themselves in learning new material, trusting their own method of learning.
