1. Powerful Rockets

As it is, the rockets powering space vessels simply aren’t powerful enough to take us anywhere near Mars. NASA plans to change that with the Space Launch System, which they say will be the most powerful rocket ever built.

The rocket is solely designed for future deep-space missions. In fact, NASA plans on testing it soon with four astronauts and sending them to far-off destinations. This may include asteroids and in the near future, even Mars itself.

Other companies are also planning on developing their own technology to help improve the rockets of today. And, with how technology changes so fast, it may not take more than one or two decades for people to reach Mars.
