Battery-powered and fuel-cell vehicles are using electricity for fuel, although it’s more of a back-up fuel for fuel-cells. While still on the right path, more companies are now attempting to find ways to innovate so electricity-powered vehicles are more efficient.
Using electricity as fuel is currently the cleanest and most practical alternative to fossil fules. It shouldn’t take long for electricity powered cars to go mainstream and many experts predict this happening by or before 2030.
A downside to this progression is much of the electricity currently comes from coal or natural gas. Both sources leave a bad carbon footprint, which is something that experts will have to address going forward.
