Researchers now see the benefits of using silver nanoparticles. Currently, it’s being used in self-sanitizing toothbrushes, as well as clothes. Though, it would be safe to assume that it would soon be used in toothpaste.
The antibacterial properties of silver has long been known to the scientific community. However, many were hesitant to use tiny particles of the metallic element because it may carry certain health risks.
As of 2014, Wilson Center counts around 400 products that have silver nanoparticles as a main ingredient.
